Coastal Scents 88 Original Palette. Summer look:

This look is a natural light golden look.  I have worn it the past couple of days.  It looks really nice.
The base I used is NYX Eyeshadow Base in ESB03 Skintone.  This NYX EYESHADOW Base is awesome! I find my eyeshadows last longer than when I use urban decay primer potion or too faced shadow insurance.  I hardly even use those primers anymore.  Some people may have a different opinion but this base works great for me.

Must Have Palettes for any makeup junkie!!!!

If you don’t have these already, well of course you have to buy them!
Coastal Scents makes excellent makeup palettes and if you want to recreate looks.. you can get almost any look with these two palettes:

They quality of the palettes are incredible.  It is just as good as the high end eye shadows out there.  Sometimes, I have to use a light hand so I won’t overdo it.  J  The 88 Original Palette has Matte and Satin colors and the Ultra Shimmer Palette has shimmer and frosty colors.  You can get them as a set for $34.95.  Coastal Scents also ships for free if you order over $50 worth of stuff.  I really love a lot of things from the brand.  It seems like they really try to provide quality items to their customers.

Also, don’t buy these on ebay.  They look similar to coastal scents but you are not getting the same product.  Believe me, they are different!  I’ve purchased several, thinking they would be the same thing but they were not.  They colors were slightly different and the quality was not as good.

10 GREAT MAC LIPSTICK DUPES!!!

Here is a list of the MAC Lipstick dupes I know of.  They are very, very close dupes.  Also, the dupes are very creamy and feel good on your lips.  I have used them often and just like MAC, these shades look damn good!!!

1.  MAC'S VIVA GLAM V:    RIMMEL MOISTURE RENEW LIP COLOR #180 SUNSET

The Rimmel one is really similar.  Just like Mac’s Viva Glam V, it looks good on a lot of people.  I wear a lip balm under the Rimmel one though because it is not as moisturizing as I want it to be. However, it does have sun protection and is a great summer shade.  Also, I’ve heard that this color may be discontinued.  Run out to the drug store…fast!!!

2. MAC'S Angel:  ELF $1.00 Lipstick in CLASSY

These lipsticks are unbelievably close.  The color and sheen on these two are extremely similar.  The ELF one is great.  It is really creamy and wearable.  For $1.00 it’s a steal!

3.  MAC'S Fleshpot:  ELF MINERAL NATURAL NYMPH
The Elf one is really wearable.  I really love it.  This is my go to lipstick for a nude lip.  Elf also has huge sales.  I got this lipstick for $2.50 while they had a 50% off sale.

4.  MAC'S Viva Glam GAGA:  NYX Strawberry milk or Rimmel London 006 Pink Blush in lasting finish lipstick  (this may be discontinued) :-(

This match is not as close as I want it.  If anyone knows a better dupe for Viva Glam Gaga, post it here.  The color is really similar though, just a little toned down from Viva Glam Gaga’s lipstick.

5.  MAC'S Blooming Lovely:  NYX Power

Really, really close!!!  I think Blooming lovely was limited edition, so if you’re looking for a similar shade, NYX’s Power will do the trick.

6.  MAC'S Blankety:  NYX Thalia

These are pretty similar.  I have light-medium skin and I really like the way this color looks.

7.  MAC'S Crème Cup:  Maybelline's Colors Sensational Born with it
These are very similar.  The Maybelline one is creamy and moisturizing.  I like it a lot.

8.  MAC'S VIVA GLAM 2:  L’Oreal Colour Riche Fairest Nude
These two look the same on the lips!  They both look very nice.  This is a great shade to pair with bold eye color!!!!

9.  MAC’S Speed Dial:  Revlon Colorburst Carnation
The color on these two are a definite match.    I love this pink!!!!!

10.   MAC’S Craving:  Maybelline Color Sensational Party Pink

This is a great bold color.  The Party Pink is very pigmented and nice.

Also, I’m on the hunt for a exact dupe for MAC’S Russian Red. When I find it, I will post it.  If anyone has any ideas, let me know.

I must give credit to the awesome Emilynoel83 for finding most of these dupes!!

Oily Summer Skin

Summer Day Royalty Free
www.clipartguide.com
I had a conversation with my friend last week.  She was telling me that since summer hit, her skin has been excessively oily.  She had been using a cleanser on an exfoliating pad to wash her face.  She said she liked the cleanser, because she had less pimples, but her face was really oily lately.  I told her to ditch the pad and try using the cleanser with her hands.

This reminded me how many people abuse their skin and make it worse.  So, I decided to blog.

As we enter Summer, many of us face sweaty, oily skin.  Yuck!  And, many of us want to scrub the hell out of our faces with scrubs to get rid of our pimples and oily skin.   There are many scrubs out there and harsh skin products that are supposed to get rid of our clogged pores.
But, with oily skin, less is more!  Scrubs and Harsh chemicals can cause skin damage!

During the Summer season you should avoid using these scrubs daily because when you exfoliate your face too much you STIMULATE OIL PRODUCTION!!!!! Let me say that again…  you STIMULATE OIL PRODUCTION!!!!!  This makes your skin more oily.
Exfoliating too frequently is a bad idea.

Also harsh chemicals can cause skin problems like itching, flaking, and skin dermatitis.

My Skin regimen:
1.  Remove my eye makeup.  I love Rimmel Eye makeup remover.
2.  Get the water warm, not hot!  Warm water opens the pores…
3.  Then, I pick up a gentle face cleanser and first wash my hands with it.  Then I use my hands to gently cleanse my face. (not a cloth, which will exfoliate)

A good gentle cleanser for oily skin is Cetaphil Oily skin cleanser, or Neutrogena Oil-Free Acne Wash.
If you have sensitive skin, use something like Cetaphil Gentle skin cleanser. (This is the one I am currently using.)
4.  Then I rinse my face and splash cold water on it to close my pores.
5.  Then I moisturize.  I always use something with SPF during the day.  (If you don’t use a moisturizer with SPF, then make sure your foundation has SPF.)
-I always wait until my skin has dried before applying makeup and I try to avoid picking at my face and touching it during the day.
-Oh, and I do exfoliate, but during the summer, I only do it about once a week, or once every two weeks.

I also use a Peel-off-mask about once a month to remove dead skin.

SUMMER TIP:  WEAR SUNSCREEN!!!!
If you want to see what will happen if you don’t…….
Google Images: skin cancer

A person may be pretty and tan when they are young…but they are setting themselves up for horribly wrinkly skin and skin cancer!
I'd rather wear a floppy hat and sunscreen :-)

Intro to Lady D

Hi, My name is Lady D.  I am interested in all things beauty and especially MAKEUP.  Yes, I too am a makeup junkie!  If you’ve stumbled upon this page you are probably a makeup junkie as well.  Cheers to you!

Makeup is Art. It is a way for us to express ourselves.

I started this blog because I watch the popular makeup gurus on youtube and have found that if you want to recreate their looks, there is just too much makeup to buy.  Therefore I am going to dedicate my blog to the inexpensive, but GREAT, and I do mean GREAT makeup.  I will also try to use the same products many times.  I have tried so many different brands of makeup:  MAC, Lancôme, Wet N Wild, Coastal Scents, Revlon, Almay, Clinique, Tarte, L’Oreal, Urban Decay, Too Faced, Rimmel …and the list goes on.    I definitely have my favorite items and there are many high end things that I will never purchase again because they have an inexpensive counterpart.  If I find dupes for the popular expensive items I will also list them here.  Oh, and If I get the desire to talk about anything else...It will also be posted here.

Thank you for reading.

I will try to post daily but there is no guarantees on that.  J  Take care, my fellow junkies.
